This program is offered year round at our location in Layos (Toledo) and instruction is provided by professors of Universidad de Castilla La Mancha, certified by Instituto Cervantes. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and transferrable credits. Ideal for those who would like to build on Spanish skills learned throughout the academic year, we offer a unique opportunity to combine camp with study. The program combines Spanish classes in the mornings with open-air sport and adventure activities in the afternoon. This intensive Spanish course incorporates conversation and grammar and can be tailored to meet each group’s specific needs.
This is our most popular program and is most similar to a summer camp experience. Our facilities at both locations are well equipped and suited to activities at any time of year. In this program children rotate through activities in small groups. Each activity (nature, sports and the arts) are led by a trained counsellor. Whether the participants are experienced in an activity or are trying something for the first time, they learn the value of cooperation and build self confidence and autonomy, all while having fun in a safe and supportive environment.
This fun, competitive GAME of achievement is played in teams. Each team must work together to complete activities that test their creative problem solving skills. These tests are designed to help them develop teamwork, strategy, risk assessment, and resource management skills. In this program students cannot rely on their physical abilities alone, but must also use their “brains” to succeed. Our counsellors are on hand to facilitate activities and constantly assess each student and group dynamic, while the participants must work together to earn group success.
This program is carried out on a private estate. The children work together to establish a base camp with tents and all necessary equipment. During the day participants enjoy sport and nature activities and at night they collaborate on organizing games and campfires. Camping Skills: assembling tents, maintaining water area, fire area, game area, eating area. Knowledge of the environment: trails, fauna, crops, trees. Fire: bonfire-building workshop, collection of firewood, safety rules. Field cooking. Field Construction: Preparation of a one-night shelter using items collected from nature, rope, and a tarp. Raft Construction: Using water cans, rope, and boards, participants create a raft and float on a reservoir.
